Meandering...

Rivers and dykes have always fascinated me. I lived nearby the IJssel river and still remember my first painting session. Sixteen years old, armed with easel, canvas and paint heading off to the riverside. I love the smell, the wind pattern over the water, serpentine forms of the dyke imitating the river.

Painted plein air on a very hot afternoon in August in 2018 nearby Welsum, a small village near the river.
